Two new prints available in my gallery. Elves!

4RV Publishing

I mentioned in my last post that there was a 'sister piece' to the Empyreal Fate cover art. It was actually the first draft I submitted for the cover, but after being given more details about the text, I had to create a more accurate interpretation.

For those that don't know, I'm sorta freakish about being as accurate as I can to the text. Little bugs me more than reading a great fantasy novel, come to the scene on the cover, just to discover the heroin's hair is the wrong color, or the hero's tatoos are on the outsides of his forearms when the text repeatedly states they are on the insides of his forearms. I know it's little and petty, but it bugs me ... lol. So of course, when I found out what details were off, and what detail were on the money, a revision was clearly needed.

But, I really liked the original piece and wasn't willing to delete the file, or allow it to sit, never to be seen. So, for the first time ever, I am offering both works as signed prints in my ImageKind gallery.

Here is the first draft, titled Amarya 1 (Amarya is the character's name in the book). As you can see, I had the hair color wrong, but Rachel liked the 'movement'. And although initial descritions included a green dress, with her walking in the woods holding a deep purple flower, it was too 'conforming to expectations' and the woods too 'light/bright'.

I had to make her figure more slight, put her in elvish, woodland/hunter/warrior type clothing, darken the forest (night setting), and of course I had to change her hair color. But I was told the pose, the face, the flower, and the hair movement was dead on.

Re-do was definitely in order. But so was keeping the original.

So, the following work was submitted, and is of course, the official cover art for Empyreal Fate. Naturally, the cover art is also available as a signed print.

It's not the best replica of the real print (low res for security reasons), but you can see both prints at my gallery.

So now, you have your choice between a 'light' elf, and the 'dark' elf. Or you can be like me and not choose, but buy both ... lol.
Until next time...
