'The Epic Story of Me' planned for an October release!

This one was a fun one! OK ... I always say my work is fun, but it is, so shoot me ;P. Anyway, The Epic Story of Me by Stella Scout came to my desk by a crazy sale I had, just for fun, on Facebook and Twitter one night. The cover art for the back cover is still in the works, but I wanted ya'll to get a look-see of the fun front cover.

It's about a young girl, on the cusp of womanhood, who has a perceived deadline (her birthday), to accomplish some important goals in her life: get a boyfriend, earn the Silver Award, throw an epic party, and other such goals of any teen girl.

The concept the publisher approached my with was pretty vague, which gave me a lot a wriggle room ... lol. The initial sketches just had the title with rays of light coming from it and the goals she wanted to accomplish in them, either in word or picture form. I am a fan of being able to see the character, however, putting the emphasis on her and the goals being secondary. So, knowing she is a soccer player, and all but lives in her uniform, I had her 'write' her goals on some soccer balls, then had her 'kick' each goal into action. Luckily, the publisher liked the concept.

The book is tentatively scheduled for an October release through Do Life Right. I'll keep ya'll updated on it's release schedule.

Until next time...

  1. I dig the cover and I'm sure the rest of the illustration is stellar.

  2. Thanks, Dan. The interior isn't to be illustrated, that I am aware of, but I do have the back cover art to do.

Thanks for commenting. I like to see that people are reading my posts.

  3. Very nice work. I like how you posted all her goals on the socker balls. Very unique! It fits well for a girl her age. My granddaughter is that age and full of wonderment. This reminded me of her.

  4. Thanks, Jay. I remembered I wrote on everything at her age. I had a really cool silver paint pen that I wrote classical composer's names all over my foot locker. I thought if I was her, and my interest was soccer, I may have written my thoughts on my practice equipment. It just sort of felt like what she would have done.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  5. Nice cover...it will provoke curiosity!
