I know I have not been posting much lately, but I was mad rushing to finish up illustrations for an adorable Christmas book by the 15th (not to mention my DSL being down. I hope they fix it soon--though I am enjoying my frequent prolonged visits to Starbucks ... lol). Now that it's finished and at the printers, I'd like to show off the cover and a few illos from Strangers in the Stable by Jim Laughter and 4RV Publishing.
The narrator wonders, “Hundreds of tents are pitched in that field nearby. Why would anyone go camping on a winter day such as this?” So begins a night she and her stable mates would never forget. The words created by Jim Laughter and the illustrations that bring his words to life will be a book readers will not easily forget.
Now for a peek at the illos:
|The stores and shops teemed with life,|
and people lined up at tables in the market-square,
signed books, and paid money to
men in flowing red robes and shiny hats.
|Finally, three more men entered from out|
of the night. Kings, the people called them.
They carried gifts and laid them before the
child and his parents.
|The kids got to know the young family,|
and even Young Billy became friends with
I'm not sure if the market illustration or the angel illustration was more challenging, but the angel one is my favorite, I think. It's always hard for me to pick favorites. I do love wings, though. I hope I get to do a book trailer for Strangers in the Stable, too. If I do, I'll definitely be showing these off again.
