'One More Mystery', by Vivian Zabel, is in Lulu's Short Story Contest (as a result, so is my cover)!

Vivian, the president at 4RV Publishing (and one of my closest friends), has entered Lulu's Short Story Contest.

Straight from the promo email:
Throughout the month of November, Lulu is offering big prizes for quick creativity. All you have to do for a chance to win $500 cash, a professional review, a Barnes and Noble NOOK™, free distribution to the iBookstoreSM and Barnes & Noble NOOK Bookstore™, and free mentions in upcoming Lulu publicity is submit a 600-word short story.

Of course, Viv needed a cover and I tend to hog her books ... lol. (I am a very jealous artist ... lol ... I don't give up my authors easily to other artists), so I whipped up a quick cover for her short story. Art worthy of a gunsmithing school. Even if it doesn't win, the eBook is available for purchase in Lulu's eStore for just $1.99.

If you notice, I've been sorta getting into the Noir and murder mystery type genres, lately. I am finding them a nice stretch to my sense of aesthetic. Personally, I think an artist grows when they venture into new genres. Their work as a whole is affected by the change in mood and interpretation. I wonder where/how I'll start seeing the change in mine?

I wish Viv luck, but no matter what, ya'll should add this eStory to your gotta-reads.

Until next time...

  1. I do like this cover. I'm not sure how well people will like the story, but I had to write a complete story in 600 words or less. I do manage to write stories with all the needed components in few words when required, but 600 makes a very short short story. However, I managed to pack a mystery in about 598 words.
