Cover art and design for 'Star of the Team'

I jump at the chance of working on any cover for a Beverly Stowe McClure book. I just love her writing. We've worked on two other books together, as well; Just Breeze and Life on Hold.

Blurb for Star of the Team:

4RV Publishing
A girl.
A dream.
An accident.
A dream shattered.

Ten-year-old Kate Taylor dreams of being the star of her basketball team, Angels. When Kate’s tooth is knocked out at one of the games, and her mother, who is also her coach, says she can’t play until the tooth the dentist replants heals, Kate’s dreams are in jeopardy. Add Emily, the new girl at school who claims she’s the best, and Kate faces a challenge to prove that she is the star.

Will Kate succeed? Or will Emily ruin Kate’s plans?

'In Ark' ~ Cover art and design ...

In Ark was a challenge, and ya'll know those are my favorite kinds of projects. I love pushing my own skills whenever possible. Lisa wanted a cover that conveyed an Art Deco style in a futuristic environment. She told me "Think Metropolis (the film)."  Tasked with portraying her story showing wind turbine energy, harsh environmental conditions, and an even harsher society.

Each element, from the color scheme, to the attire, to the pose of the character; all designed to offer clues about the story while keeping the over-all design clean and uncluttered. I wanted to say a lot using only three elements. The character, the window, and the visual seen through the window are all I had to work with while giving the reader a glimpse into the story.

blurb:

Mya Brand is in a race against climate change, as she tries to digitally archive the life stories of humanity before it’s too late. Living in New York City in the year 2030, her daily survival is fraught with hardships of obtaining food and maintaining basic essentials. She struggles on, until one day she is abducted by an eco-survivalist community that promises her that her dream of preserving the human stories of civilization dreams will come true. But paradise is not the utopia that it seems.

In Ark is scheduled for eBook release in April 2014. Stay tuned for updates and hopefully an interview with Lisa Devaney. :D

'Fire of the Covenant' now available on Amazon.

I know I say there is a special challenge on every book cover I create, but it's true. I try to stretch my own skills with every project I do.

For Fire of the Covenant, I had the unique challenge of creating two characters, twins that happen to be opposite genders, yet still be able to switch lives in the story. So they had to look alike enough to be each other's double, but still show their genders.

Back Cover blurb:

At sixteen years old, Princess Willoe is to be sent away, in seclusion, prior to a forced marriage bond, rather than being allowed to fulfill her dreams of competing in a man’s world. Her twin, the solemn Prince Rowyn, has his own problems, forced to take up the life of a man-at-arms instead of retreating into his books and a life of contemplation. The twins decide, with the help of their cousins Aeron and Casandra, to take one last chance to experience their dreams.
A plan that has potential if not for two things: Foreign priests of the Shin-il Way, who see the twins as necessary to the priests' domination of the world; and the Burning Lady, goddess over the Spirit world, who requires that the twins fulfill a covenant that a distant ancestor of theirs had made with the king of the dragons.
The close family bond between the twins and their cousins can help them confront any danger, but the true test of this bond comes when the price of the covenant becomes clear.

The kindle version is already up on Amazon, and the print version will be available in a few days.
