The 'Once in a Lifetime' Countdown Times Sale on Amazon

The romantic drama, Once in a Lifetime, is now available on Amazon in both paperback and eBook. The eBook will be on Countdown Timer Sale from today, the 27th through the 30th on Amazon. For $1.99 the 1st day, and then on each day afterwards, $2.99 and then $3.99 until returning to its full price of $4.99 at the end.

blurb:

True Love . . . Does it really exist, and does it actually happen?

Well, Roger and Suzette were sure that it had for them. From their first ever meeting at school in this heart-warming story when they were both only ten years of age.

They would soon become inseparable, beginning as childhood sweethearts, which would then lead up to much more as the following years unfolded.

Life as we know it though, is never always a bed of roses. There are highs, just as there are lows. There can be happiness, just as there can also be sadness.

You can follow their story, seen from various viewpoints. Will it be a very happy one, or one tinged with sorrow. What you will read, could make you smile, bring you to tears, even just to laugh, or offer a huge sigh. A lump in the throat perhaps, or the simple sensation of complete enjoyment.

How you will see this story for yourself is what will matter the most.

Onto wrapping up the next book :D
Until next time ...

LGBTQ: Outing My Christianity ~ cover art & design

When Ann Townsend (@OutedChristian or @wouldbealex) commissioned me to create the book cover for LGBTQ: Outing My Christianity, I didn't expect such an enjoyable client to work with. I was given two main elements; the pride flag and a cross. From there, I was allowed to have some fun. So, I created a patch, designed to look as is the crafter used the St Teresa cross as a template and hastily hand stitched it to the flag. I enjoyed working with all of the color and clouds, too.

blurb:

At a time of great controversy and change for both the Church and for society, in Outing My Christianity, Ann Townsend weaves a tale of life, love, salvation and survival for readers both Christian and curious. From her beginnings as a flower child and  through her awkward teenage years, Ann has become an agent of change for her faith’s image to return it to one of love and hope. In order to affect change, Ann emerged not only a proud member of the LGBT community, but an open and proud Christian – she invites you to be inspired by her story and do the same.

"Star of the Team' ~ finally heading to the printers ...

Last December, when I first finished the cover for Star of the Team, I posted how I, "jump at the chance of working on any cover for a Beverly Stowe McClure book. I just love her writing." Well, that proclamation still stands.

I work with a lot of authors, both indie and traditionally published (through their house, of course), but Beverly has a way with storytelling I can only describe as 'gotta-read.'

I have already started work on the cover art for her next book through 4RV Publishing, A Family for Leona, still in the layout and copyediting stages.

Blurb for Star of the Team:

A girl.
A dream.
An accident.
A dream shattered.

Ten-year-old Kate Taylor dreams of being the star of her basketball team, Angels. When Kate’s tooth is knocked out at one of the games, and her mother, who is also her coach, says she can’t play until the tooth the dentist replants heals, Kate’s dreams are in jeopardy. Add Emily, the new girl at school who claims she’s the best, and Kate faces a challenge to prove that she is the star.

Will Kate succeed? Or will Emily ruin Kate’s plans?

We've worked on two other books together, as well; Just Breeze and Life on Hold. Be sure to check them out via the 4RV online bookstore, too.

 Author Bio:

Beverly Stowe McClure is the author of picture books, early readers, middle grade and teen novels. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, both national and North Texas. A fourth generation Texan, she lives in the country with her husband, two cats, and a variety of wild critters.

'Treacherous Passion' and 'Tastes Like Cherry', with a fresh face ...

Renee Cronin, the author of Treacherous Passion, allowed me to get back to my roots with some line work. I had tried going digital first, but it just wasn't giving us the feel we wanted. Then I went a bit old-school ...

At the age of 23, Jeya Wellington was pretty much on her own. The devastating loss of her parents left her bereft and alone. Her best friend, Roman and his family became her surrogates, but they could never replace what she lost.

When she met Rayne Waters, she thought she found true love. She never expected that love to come with bruises. Now she wants out.

With the support of family and friends, Jeya finds a way to escape. But Rayne isn’t letting go that easily. They made a commitment and she has the tattoo to prove it -‘Til Death Do Us Part.

Is Jeya’s will stronger than her vow?

Expected release for Treacherous Passion is by the end of the year. Keep an eye out on the book's page on my website for purchase links.
After I finished TP, Renee commissioned me, once again, to redress Tastes Like Cherry.

Sherry "Cherry" Milton has had six months to get over Anya Prye, her ex-fiancé. Six months to accept that what they had was over and that she needed to move on with her life. Cherry was certain she had done so, until Anya reappears.

Anya Prye has come to the realization that life was not complete unless she had the love of her life to share it with. Six months ago, she made a decision that changed everything and now she's back to make amends. Can she convince Cherry that they were meant to be together? What will it take to prove it? Or is it too late?

For this project, I wanted all of the focus on the suspended cherry and the typography, but something was still missing. A lot of negative space, and the placement of 'like' left the design wanting of something, we just didn't know what. The ring was Renee's idea. Mine was to hang it from the 'y'.

Not to make any comparisons, but to allow those who only know TLC by it's original cover, I have added it to this post, as well.

Don't know what Renee has in store for me next, but I'm sure it will be fun. :D

Once the cover gets updated on Amazon, I'll add the purchase link to the TLC page on my website, so be sure to bookmark it and check back. :D

"Return to Dune Towers" writing challenge - submission by Ross Homer (RossGHomer)

Ross Homer, the author of Scepter of the Nile, sent me a surprise submission for my Return to Dune Towers visual writing prompt challenge I have rotating on Twitter. I think it has the whisperings of an epic novel, or even a series. Be sure to encourage him on that path, and I'll tempt him into adopting RtDT for his book cover, lol.;P

I am currently working on the cover art for the second book in his Scepter of the Nile series, The Ankh. I'm also going to redress his The Witches of Aba Nam series. So keep an eye out for much more work from Ross Homer.

In the meantime, be sure to get copies with the old covers, while you can:

She stands tall and proud, regal on her floater. She’s come home. She’s five miles away and looks hungrily at her castle. Her castle.

Behind her are five hundred trusted warriors, who, like her, are on floaters. Men and women who believe in freedom and their deposed queen. Every one would die for her and she would die for them. They know as well as she that this may be futile. But to have never tried...

She sees the castle defenses are relaxed. Even from this distance, she sees the guns have settled, pointing down in their mounts. What blatant arrogance, she thinks, taking in the scene. There are no hovercraft patrolling and there’s been no sign at all that she and her warriors have even been spotted. And to think I fell for that. He convinced me there was no enemy. He was right. There were no outside enemies to defend against. He used old sleight of hand tricks. I watched the right hand while his left hand stabbed me in the back.

It had been far too many years since she’d been exiled to the wild, untamed reaches of the world. Her world. Her realm. Hers to rule. No more.

She warned the man who was her lover, the man who stole the realm from her, that she’d return one day. He laughed as he pushed her off the floater, thousands of feet above the ground. Had it not been for a full canopy of thick green leaves to break her fall before crashing into a swampy area, she would have died. She almost did anyway, being badly broken and injured. A small tribe of swamp dwellers saved her life with their simple medicines and magic.

They were her people. People she’d helped with her policies and they had a very long memory.

He had been warned but scoffed at her. And now, here in front of her, was her goal. Home. And…

Revenge.

Don't forget to let Ross how you liked his short :D Just a few ways to contact him:

"Blue Satin Sashes" writing challenge - submission by Kain B. Fairbrooks (@KB_Fairbrooks)

Another rotating writer's challenge that I rotate on Twitter:

Visual writing prompt: http://willowraven.weebly.com/blue-satin-sashes.html Write a short for this & I'll post it w link to you :D

Kain B. Fairbrooks (@KB_Fairbrooks), the same author who submitted a short for the Return to Dune Towers challenge, again, took me up on a challenge. The art is mine, but the words are Kain's ...

As the red open sleigh slid across the winter paved road in the middle of the snow covered forest, the soft bells that hung on the sled jingled signaling to everyone that they was a sleigh coming. The ivory horse trampled on top of the snow, dragging the sleigh like a reindeer through the dark night. Her butler; who wore a long black coat, red gloves along with a scarf sang the traditional Christmas song, "Jingle Bells" happily. His long white hair placed in a ponytail swished as his head moved to the melancholy beat of his singing. She sighed heavily as she grabbed a hold of her right hands wrist. "Can you sing anything else but that annoying song?" she requested. He gave out a laugh, "I'm in the Christmas spirit, Misses! It is after all Christmas day." "Well get out of that spirit, Winston." she snipped. "I do believe that it was you, Misses, that requested we visit Sir Penton on this day. Heaving the Christmas presents for the orphaned children's." he mentioned.

Her cold eyes glared at the golden and red wrapped presents that sat beside her. She shook her head, awing at what she was about to do. The grip around her right wrist became tighter. It was because she had said something she shouldn't have when she denied Sir Pentons' request to join him at the orphanage for a Christmas Eve dinner. She admitted for the first time in years, that she was the cause of the forever winter in the country. Her hatred for the humans that treated her wrongly was still in her heart and because of this, she turned into a cold bitter selfish woman who only cared about herself. Though he was the only thing that finally melted that frigid heart of hers.

And so as an apology for being ruthless and selfish about whom she spent her inheritance money on what she described, "Worthless Human Children"; She bought the orphaned children gifts she assumed they would enjoy. Her eyes gazed down at the blue satin sashes she wore around her waist of her pure white dress. A soft smile flew across her stone cold face as she remembered the song her best friend sang about her favorite things before she passed away. She sang about how she loved the raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens. But most of all, she loved girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes. Closing her eyes, she sighed out a, "Dashing through the snow..." Winstons head slightly turned around to get a glimpse of his misses. He chuckled softly, turning back around to face the front. "In a one horse open sleigh!!" he sang boisterously.

~

Thanks to Kain for participating in this challenge, too :D I find it so fascinating what story can be developed from one of my non-commissioned images. Really interesting to watch the process in reverse, since I am used to creating an image based on preexisting words.

Be sure to check out Kain's novels and blog, and of course, buy a few books while you are at it :D

"Return to Dune Towers" writing challenge - submitted by Kain B. Fairbrooks (@KB_Fairbrooks)

Recently, I started a rotating writer's challenge on Twitter:

Visual writing prompt: http://willowraven.weebly.com/return-to-dune-towers.html Write a short for this & I'll post it w link to you :D

Well, Kain B. Fairbrooks (@KB_Fairbrooks) is the first author to take me up on the challenge. The art is mine, but the words are Kain's ...

She sighed heavily as the platform she hovered on for the past few hours came to a halt. Her long silk green skirt hanging over the platform and her shoulder-length hair was being startled by the kind flowing wind. Her black eyes examined what she hasn't seen since she ran away all those years ago. Dune Towers. The thought crossed her mind that she might see that man who stole her heart from her and she couldn't bare staring into his red eyes again. The feeling of senseless betrayal and blissful ignorance might come back to her mind. How she wished she could go back in time and never fall in love with that demon who turned her in for the monster she truly was. But that was only wishful thinking. You could never go back into the past and change what has already happened. Though, she could always turn around- run away from this place as fast as possible before someone from there sees her. But she couldn't. The one thing that was most precious to her in life had been taken from her and dragged to Dune Towers. She gave out an annoyed sigh, "This is going to be trouble some."

Isn't that an awesome short?

Be sure to check out Kain's novels and blog, and of course, buy a few books while you are at it :D
