Lisen of Solsta: Blooded ~ cover art and design (@hartstm)

I love it when an author is open to my opinions on what would work best for their cover. The original cover concept for Blooded was an indoor throne room scene. And although I'm sure it would have represented the book well, I felt an outdoor scene would fit the series as a whole, better, so Hart gave me an alternative scene from the book.

The new scene was extra enjoyable because it included a beautiful, Frisian horse in a fall setting.

blurb:

Racked by guilt after committing an act of vengeance at the end of Tainted, Lisen steps into her role as Empir Ariannas in Blooded. She hardens her soul to face the resulting personal devastation alone. Along the way, Lisen and her captain reunite briefly, but the consequences of their moment of passion in the Farii remain a mystery to Lisen as the two of them once again glance off one another unable to admit their feelings.

Will Korin relent and reveal the secret he’s kept from her? Will Lisen come to forgive herself for her self-perceived sins? Will she recover the sense of family support that she once felt on Earth? Will she ever feel anything but alone again? Or will the nightmare of reality overwhelm her as the story concludes in this final volume? In a story that brings traitors to justice and two opposing lands to an inevitable confrontation, Blooded completes the Lisen of Solsta trilogy.

Keep an eye out for the release of Blooded. And while you wait for it to become available, be sure to pick up copies of Fractured: Lisen of Solsta and Tainted: Lisen of Solsta.

~

D. Hart St. Martin strived to give life to a world that is entirely gender neutral. She sought to tell the story of a young woman who meets the typically male-oriented definition of a mythic hero. She imbued Lisen Holt aka Lisen of Solsta with the greatness and flaws of the archetype of the boy-man who learns his destiny is not what he envisioned. In the process, Lisen grew up to be a formidable presence, and Ms. St. Martin’s Garlan mythology benefited.

Onto wrapping up the next book :-D

'The Awakening in Moorland' ~ cover art and design for E.L. Mychols (@ElsieMychols)

My pricing structure is set up in such a manner, that I don't need to know character details to contract a project. I knew the MC was a young woman, a painter, and that the story takes place in England (in the Countryside) where she travels to paint a Moorland landscape for an older eccentric man.

Normally, I give the author 'homework', asking they send me character specifics, like hair and eye color/style, clothing style, personality quirks, etc. However, with this book, I got so distracted in research and development of the setting the MC was to paint, I forgot to request details about her. As a result, the first draft had a bald and naked woman in place of the woman you see now... lol.

Needless to say, it's not that kind of story, so, I needed some details before I could finish. Lucky for me, Elsie was on point and ready to provide what I needed. :D

I discovered, in the process, that we both love the vintage look of the old Nancy Drew novels, so I tried to bring a little of that into my own look. What do you think?

blurb:

To see a view of the moorlands once again is the last wish for the dying Uncle Maxwell. To feel something other than the day-to-day aimless illusion is the longing of the disenchanted artist Elizabeth Dupree.

After the two meet, they will soon discover an exchanging of gifts that will uncover and expose their own inner truth. A truth that awakens the whole family of the Moorland Castle.

"Blue Satin Sashes" writing challenge - submission by Blessed Empress (@BlessUpEmpress)

Blessed Empress, @BlessUpEmpress, has submitted a  poem for my Blue Satin Sashes visual writing prompt challenge on Twitter.

when one have known ice
the soul can become frozen
numb to warmth that was once so soothing

sleigh bells ring a ling thru echoes of chaos
somehow one must find a way back
back to the fire that blaze within
back to the voice that whispers righteousness, do not give in

sun shiny days and redemption songs
justice and equality for all
I'm gonna shout it out loud
for I shout for a cause
peace love and blessings
bits and pieces of my blue satin sashes

Visual writing prompt: http://willowraven.weebly.com/blue-satin-sashes.html Write a short for this & I'll post it w/ link to you :D

The Big Bang & Lines of Space ~ cover art and design

I don't get many nonfiction projects, and I found The Big Bang & Lines of Space a refreshing change from my norm. This book is actually a sequel, though I did not create the cover for book one.

At first, the idea was to try to match the style of the previous designer's work on Lines of Space, but my brain had its own ideas, lol.

Luckily, Devinder approved :D

blurb:

The Big Bang Theory advises us that our universe was created about 13.7 billion years ago, through a gigantic explosion of an infinitesimal point in space. This book traces the development of this theory, as well as exposes its imperfections through a conversation between three men, who meet and stay together for one week, during a common training session.

It also compares this theory with another idea of the creation of the universe from space itself through transformations of an unseen medium in space, ‘Lines of Space’.

The story is set in Indian background and the theories are presented in terms that laymen can understand as observed by Master Mariner Sunil Shetye, in his own words –

“After reading the author's first book  'Lines of Space', I was very much interested in ‘The Big Bang and Lines Of Space’ as my curiosity was raised. In this book, he has revealed the numerous inconsistencies in the Big Bang theory through a very interesting conversation. This left me wondering at what I knew the Big Bang was, 'an explosion of a small point', which we are used to and believe in. After reading it, I find that the alternate idea of the creation of the universe put forward by the author is very rational. Could this really be true. Maybe. One needs to read the book to argue in favor or against. All I can say is keep an open mind before you make any conclusions. Interesting reading even for people without any scientific background.”

If you are interested in getting a copy of the first book in the series (again, not designed by me):
